Conceived by the Rhine river
The inspiration for Stenzhorn’s new Flumina collection springs from Klaus Stenzhorn’s family’s story.
Flumina means ‘Rivers’ in Latin and the heart of the Stenzhorn’s heritage originates from the region located between two, picturesque rivers,
the alluring Moselle and the bustling Rhine.
Flumina’s design combines the purity and simplicity of water with the long reach of the rivers. The Flumina pendant’s shape captures the Moselle river's unique formation. The diamond-encrusted S at its centre symbolises the River Rhine and the Stenzhorn brand, combined.
A golden rose line depicts the Moselle and the Rhine’s confluence that embodies the Stenzhorn family’s cradle in natural beauty.
Semi-precious stone adds depth to the connections between water and a passion for sailing, with stone inlays that epitomise the surrounding mountains, crowned with medieval castles and covered in lush vineyards.
River whose ridges are crowned with the vine’s odoriferous clusters!
River whose meadows are clothed by the grass with an emerald verdure!
Ships on thy bosom thou bearest,—a sea; a river, thou rollest
Let me sing to the close the praise of the glorious river,
Follow the sweep of its tide rejoicing along the green meadows,
Till in the waves of the Rhine it shall come to receive consecration!
Open, O Rhine! thy blue bosom! Spread wide thy green fluttering garments
To the new stream that with thine would mingle its sisterly waters!
Nor does it bring thee alone the wealth of its waters; but stately
Sweeps from the walls of the city, the princely that once saw in triumph
Father and son return from Nicer and Lupodunum.
Ausonius (c. 310–395)
Translated by C. T. Brooks
Flumina means ‘Rivers’ in Latin and the heart of the Stenzhorn’s heritage originates from the region located between two, picturesque rivers, the alluring Moselle and the bustling Rhine.
These rivers were romanticised by the Roman poet Ausonius, in the 4th century, as an account of a typical day in his life. This area, with charming towns that line the river banks, is the Stenzhorn family's favourite place to visit for Sunday outings.
The Moselle rises in the Vosges mountains and flows through north-eastern France, Luxembourg, and western Germany. The Rhine has sources in the Swiss Alps and flows northwards through Germany and the Netherlands to the North Sea. These rivers are perfect metaphors for jewellery with natural beauty, that cross different countries, cultures and languages. The Rhine and the Moselle, with their many tributaries and wide catchment, meet near the Stenzhorn family’s home.
